Acts 8: 14-17 (TBM Version: Provisional)
14The apostles in Jerusalem having heard that Samaria had received the word of God sent to them Peter and John, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit: 16 he having not until then fallen on any of them - but they had only been baptised into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they lay hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.

According to this passage:
  1. To the people of what region were the apostles sent?
  2. Had those people  been baptised?
  3. What baptism had been performed?
  4. Which of the apostles were sent to those people?
  5. Did those apostles conduct baptisms for the nominated people?
  6. If so, which baptism would it have been?

Acts 19: 1-6 (Literal Version: J. P. Green Sr.)
... Paul, passing through the higher parts, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples, (he) said to them, “Believing, did you receive (the) Holy Spirit?” And they said to him, “We did not even hear whether there is (the) Holy Spirit.” And he said to them, “Then to what were you baptized?” And they said “To the baptism of John” And Paul said “John indeed baptized (with) a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe into the (one) coming after him, that is, into the Christ, Jesus.” And hearing, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. And Paul laying hands on them, they received the Holy Spirit and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

According to this passage:
    7. Where were the people who had been baptised into John’s baptism?
    8. Is John’s baptism the same as baptism into the name of Christ?
    9. Who conducted the baptism into the name of Christ for these people?
  10. Did these people receive the  Holy Spirit while they were being baptised into the name of Christ?
  11. What signs accompanied their reception of the Holy Spirit?

Comparing these passages:
  12. Is there only one form of baptism in Christian practice?
  13. Are baptism into the name of Christ, baptism into the Holy Spirit, John’s baptism the same?
  14. What was Paul’s response when he heard that the believers had not received the Holy Spirit?
  15. Is it reasonable to assume that Paul considered baptism into the name of Christ unnecessary?
